Houston, TX (PRWEB)
With articulating boom cranes being the second most requested NCCCO Certification, Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB) in Houston has taken delivery of new Palfinger PK32080D articulating boom and articulating loader cranes. These new cranes, in addition to their lattice crawler, rough terrain, carry deck and overhead cranes, makes them one of the largest permanent test sites in the Gulf Coast area and throughout the Southern United States.
To meet the demand for the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification, additional exams for the Articulating Boom Crane and Articulating Loader have been added to the training facility in Houston, TX. In addition, CICB has increase its monthly preparatory training for the CCO exams and has issued a guarantee that a successful pass rate will be achieved, or individuals can attend the class again at no charge.
“The current regulatory requirements, coupled with increase applications of these cranes in the field, has accelerated the growth in Articulating Crane Operator certification” stated John O’Connor, CICB’s School Director and Houston General Manager.
Under OSHA’s Cranes & Derrick Regulation (29 CFR 1926.1400) all articulating crane operators will need to be certified if the crane is used to hold, support, or stabilize material to facilitate a construction activity, or if they are handling pre-fabricated components (such as roof trusses or wall panels) or structural steel. Articulating cranes used purely to deliver materials (from truck to ground are exempt at this time).
“The minute an operator starts to arrange roof trusses or joints, for example, on the ground to facilitate hoist by another crane rather than merely placing them, he needs to be certified according to OSHA.” continued O’Connor. “The same is for loader cranes delivering dry wall.”
